Thanks for that, I got my monitor out and plugged it in and now I have no power at all. I was thinking it was the display, but didn’t want to think that because this model is an older laptop, so fixing it buying a new display and paying a tech to install it wouldn’t be worth it. If it does, then you’ve got some other problem, and an extra LCD that you may not be able to return. Does the LCD that was shipped to you actually work? Message 5 of 5. From what I’ve read, it may be a faulty video card, but if that’s the problem, wouldn’t the external monitor also be blank? Unless I can find a way, this laptop is finished.

I assume it must be a video card problem but I hate to have to replace the entire motherboard. If it does, then you’ve got some other problem, and an extra LCD mnoitor you may not be able to return.

I have tried all of the standard things such as restore etc. If you have a question create a new topic by clicking here and select the appropriate board. The PC has been quite slow over the past year.

I thought this had monigor to do with AVG, but maybe it is the screen packing up? Black screen with various tests but have error Pavipion check and see if the display IS working, just faintly, because the lamp has burned out on the LCD.
The lights stay on but nothing happens. Reset Post Submit Post. If your backlight is not working, shine a really bright flashlight at the screen to see if you see the screen image.

You might want to gamble on buying a replacement LCD and nonitor if that fixes the problem. I think it has just died, although when checking the connection of the monitor I got a tiny tingly shock in my fingers. Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
